New supplies for new pieces!!!

 
I'm so excited about the supplies I got today for the new pieces!!!

Our wool is a happy wool, did you know? It's raised here in Portugal, little lambs all over the country. We produce it with love and I love going to the cozy shops with the huge wooden shelves loaded with hanks, where the ladies and the gentleman (he's alone amongst them) treat us like family.

I got all sorts of things (woohoo!) and am going to make different, unique pieces to enhance your best features! I love creating especially for you, you know - the personalizing process  is thrilling. Creating the best shape for you, with the materials you love the most and the quality I demand, in coulours and techniques that make you shine even brighter! Check out the last pieces I created - Statement Necklaces for the Winter Season. What are statement pieces? They are those which don't go unnoticed when you wear them, being so special and looking so good on you.

You know, I'm curious about something for a while now - Where are you reading me from? Is it near Portugal? Is it accross the globe? How is life like, there where you live? Tell me everything you like the most about where you live! I'd love to create a piece about one of the places you're reading me from :) Won't it be great? Grey Knit Capelet with hooks or claps

This cape is knit in a wool with mohair, incredibly soft and light. It's warm and elegant. A feminine knit piece, very sexy, with a touch of mystery. (it reminds me of a cartoon character from when I was a child - Milady in Dartacão.)

This capelet can be worn indoors or inside your jacket. Outside of the jacket it looks lovely too.

But that's not all yet! I love creating versatile pieces, so the hooks or clasps allow this piece to become a cowl, a scarf, a shawl, a cape with hood...everything your imagination tells you.

The metal hooks look like delicate jewels, feminine details amongst the marvelous curls of this really soft yarn.

There are other colours available - night blue, olive gree with nuances and orange.

É tricotada numa lã com mohair incrivelmente fofinha e leve. É quente e elegante. É uma peça feminina e muito sensual, com um toque de mistério. (faz-me lembrar a Milady do Dartacão Hehehe Lembram-se? ;D)

Pode ser usada em casa ou dentro do casaco. Por cima dele também fica muito bonita.

Cowl for men by ❅meNENices❅

Hello there! It's been a while since I've posted here, huh?

Well, I've been really busy with Christmas knit pieces, these few weeks. Now I'm ready to show you the result of my knitting "hibernation" ;D

The first piece I bring you is an absolute debut, here on ❅meNENices❅

I've started creating for men! Yes, it's a real challenge. And guess what - they like it! :D

This first cowl is for a specific person. I wrote the portuguese word "VOA" in it. 

It translates to "FLY" and there's a story behind it. 

The man to whom I created it, works in an airport, near the giant airplanes and wrote me asking for something to keep him warm in that vast, windy, Lisbon Airport.

So here it is. I asked for a great male modell and it came to me :)

The wool is 100% portuguese, from a company that works yarns since the 1940's - 

high quality standards. 

 Here it is, the written word I'm so passioned about. 

I believe there's a path to walk, here at ❅meNENices❅, that has to do with the Word.

Words in knits. I've seen work of other artists on this subject. You'll see where this road takes me.

Oláaaa!! Já passaram uns tempos desde que vim cá pela última vez, hein?

Estive ocupada com as peças em tricot para este Natal, nas últimas semanas. Agora já estou preparada para vos mostrar o resultado da minha "hibernação" no tricot. ;D

A primeira peça que vos trago é uma estreia aqui em ❅meNENices❅

Comecei a criar para homem! É verdade e é um verdadeiro desafio. Sabem que mais? Eles gostam! :D

Esta primeira gola foi feita para alguém em específico. Escrevi a palavra "VOA" e há uma história por trás disso.

O homem para quem a fiz trabalha num aeroporto, junto aos gigantes aviões e escreveu-me pedindo que lhe fizesse algo que o mantivesse quente, naquele vasto e ventoso Aeroporto da Portela.

Portanto, cá está. Eu pedi um modelo masculino e saiu-me um espectacular :)

A lã é 100% portuguesa, de uma casa que trabalha lãs desde os anos 40 - elevados padrões de qualidade.

Ode to Knitting!

Hi! I've been wrapped up in knitting projects for a few weeks, now and today I felt like coming here and write a bit. 

It started with the Pottery ❅Colection and the purse Cauldron ❅ and I'm going on!

This week something happened that made me renew the love for knitting ❤ When I started ❅meNENices❅ , I had the intention of making everything knitted. Meanwhile, people started asking me to teach crochet and I beggined crochet projects very naturally. 

The thing is...I feel knitting has a richess and profoundness that you can't find in crochet or macramé, for instance. They are all very interesting, but the challenge I love the most is in knitting :)

I always felt crochet is for beginers (maybe because I started that way, at the age of 5, since it was easier for me, then), the real deal is knitting. :) I started knitting one year after that and I've been passioned about it ever since. I appologize to all crocheters in the world! :) See it this way, maybe you would say something similar about knitting :))) I know crochet saved some of your lives

I'm making an Ode to Knitting! I'm celebrating the challenge and the joy it brings us.

It gives us fluffier pieces, delicate stitches and a million ways to knit them, lots of potencial in the needles - there are so many of them!! Yay!!!

Tricot Duplo - DIY

Encontrei na internet a explicação, com boas fotos, de como fazer um ponto que eu acho muito bonito e estou a pensar aplicar a uma peça dentro em breve. É o tricot duplo, ou seja, um tricot que pode ser feito com duas cores contrastantes, cada uma no seu lado do trabalho. Tal como se vê na foto:

É possível fazer-se desenhos com esta técnica. Também se pode, é claro, usar a mesma cor no direito e no avesso, criando assim uma peça mais quentinha porque é duplamente tricotada.

O tutorial está aqui, em inglês. Se gostaria de ver aqui uma versão portuguesa, deixe a sugestão num comentário e farei um post novamente sobre este assunto, mais detalhado. :)

Descobri uma forma de unir pontas, muito natural - ora veja aqui!




I found on the Internet a tutorial, with good pics, of how to do a stitch that's very pretty, in my opinion, and I've been thinking of applying to a piece anytime soon. It's called Double Knitting, which means a knitting stitch that can be done with two contrasting colors, each one in each side of the work. Just like you see in the picture.

It's possible to do drawings (like fair isle, for instance) with this technique too. You can also, of course, use the same color in each side, thus creating a warmer piece because it's knitted in double.

Foi criada para uma criança, de forma a que possa brincar sem perder o cachecol que a mantém quentinha. A gola não cai do pescoço e permite-lhe mais horas de conforto em brincadeira. Os bonequinhos são ganchos para o cabelo - muito prático para os papás! 

As crianças que vestem golas ❅ meNENices ❅ gostam muito dos seus novos amigos, tricotados especialmente para elas brincarem. São um bom entretém numa viagem de carro até ao parque infantil.

It was created for a child, so that she can play without loosing her neckwarmer. The cowl doesn't fall down, allowing her to play more time, confortably. The cute dolls are also hairpins - very handy for the parents!

O marcador que uso para saber onde está o início de uma carreira, trabalhando circularmente, é um clip branco de que gosto muito :) Não sei porquê tenho especial afeição pelo clip, acho-o bonito e fofinho. É o meu marcador. 

The marker I use to know where the begining of a new round is, when working in the round, is a white  clip that I really like :) I don't know why but I'm especially fond of this clip, I think it's really pretty and cute. It's my knitting marker.
